Sony Online EntertainmentSony Online Entertainment has decided to eliminate 205 staff, closing several studios and halting production on The Agency, its spy-themed massively multiplayer online game. Sony claims to be halting work on The Agency so it can focus on two new MMOGs, one based on PlanetSide and the other based on EverQuest. SOE also credits its "...strategic decision to reduce costs and streamline its global workforce..." with the need to close several studios. SOE is closing its Denver, CO; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ studios, while also cutting staff at its Austin, TX and San Diego, CA studios.
Matrix Games, together with Slitherine, has released History: Great Battles Medieval as a downloadable game for the PC. This real-time strategy game with role-playing elements explores the events of the Hundred Years War, giving players control of either the English or French forces.
Microsoft has launched three more downloadable games for the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade, including Islands of Wakfu, Rush'N Attack: Ex-Patriot and Strania - The Stella Machine. Read on for more details concerning each of the games.

Activision BlizzardActivision Publishing, part of Activision Blizzard, has released Zhu Zhu Puppies for the DS to stores in North America. Based on the Zhu Zhu toy line, Zhu Zhu Puppies has players caring for their virtual puppy, unlocking merits that can be spent at the toy shop for new games and further customization.

Tecmo KoeiKoei, part of Tecmo Koei, has released its game Dynasty Warriors 7 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to stores in North America. This latest Dynasty Warriors game once again has players engaging in tactical combat as they direct their heroes through battle involving hundreds of foes.
XseedXseed Games' title The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky for the PSP is now available in stores (and also as a download through the PlayStation Network). The role-playing game, from Japanese developer Nihon Falcom, has two young peacekeeper/adventurers uncovering a conspiracy to overthrow the throne.
Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts' game Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii is now available in stores in North America. This latest Tiger Woods-themed golf game allows gamers to play golf at a virtual version of the Augusta National Golf Club that was "laser-scanned" to present near absolute authenticity. So if your boss says he carved his initials into a tree off the fourth green, maybe you'll find them if you golf really badly. But probably not. The PlayStation 3 version of the game supports the Move accessory, while the Wii version supports the Wii MotionPlus controller.
GameMill's title Country Dance for the Wii is now available in stores in North America. The title has Wii owners using the Wii Remote to dance along to around 25 country songs from performers ranging from Miley Cyrus to Johnny Cash.
Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts' latest Need for Speed game, this one called Shift 2: Unleashed, is now available in stores in North America. This racing game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC uses the same "Autolog" technology from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit to connect gamers, but has players racing in a more simulation-like environment. The game should reach stores in Europe later this week.
Activision BlizzardActivision Publishing, part of Activision Blizzard, has released NASCAR: The Game 2011 to stores in North America. Available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developed by Eutechnyx, this racing game has players competing on 23 tracks from the NASCAR circuit using representations of 43 drivers and their cars.
THQTHQ's game WWE All Stars is now available in stores in North America. Available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP, WWE All Stars is THQ's latest WWE-themed wrestling game. This particular game includes some of the WWE's biggest stars, allowing wrestling fans to create and play out match-ups between stars who may never have shared the ring.
505 Games' latest title, Johnny Test for the DS, to stores in North America. Based on the Cartoon Network show of the same name, the game is a side-scrolling platformer featuring the characters from the show.
Square EnixSquare Enix's game The 3rd Birthday for the PSP is now available in stores in North America. The game follows the character of Aya Brea from the Parasite Eve series in this game that fuses a third-person shooter with a role-playing game. As horrible creatures known as "The Twisted" attack Manhattan, Brea is the only entity capable of saving humanity.
Telltale Games has released the third episode of its adventure game series based on the Back to the Future films. This episode, called Citizen Brown is available as a download for the PC and Mac for those who have purchased the entire season.

Nintendo 3DSNintendo's latest handheld gaming device, the Nintendo 3DS reached stores in North America today. The game includes a 3D screen that provides stereoscopic 3D at a particular distance away from your eyes (that is adjustable using a slider on the device). Battlefront.com, together with publisher 1C Company, has released Theater of War 3: Korea as a download for the PC. The game is also available by mail. This real-time strategy game contains two campaigns set in 1950, one from the perspective of North Korea, the other from the perspective of the United States, allowing players to explore "...the first hot war of the Cold War era..."

Sony has released the downloadable game PlayStation Move Heroes for the PlayStation 3 through the PlayStation Store. Downloadable for $40, the game has players using the PlayStation Move peripheral to guide one of six heroes to defeat a horde of galactic predators.

Matrix Games, together with Boku Strategy Games, has released Combat Command: The Matrix Edition as a download or mail-order for the PC. This updated compilation of the Combat Command series includes updated scenarios and all the updates from the Desert Rats and Danger Forward releases, and allows PC gamers to engage in World War II turn-based strategy in all its cardboard-chit-inspired glory.

LucasArtsLego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars from LucasArts and developer Traveller's Tales is now available in stores. The game is currently available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, PSP and DS. The game should also be released for the 3DS when that system launches this weekend. The game offers more adventures in the Lego Star Wars universe, this time based on the events from the animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Electronic ArtsCrysis 2 from Electronic Arts and Crytek is now available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in stores in North America and should reach Europe by the end of the week. This first-person shooter has players defending a ravaged New York City from alien invaders following a series of natural and unnatural disasters. The game's story was authored by Richard Morgan and the game is built on the CryEngine 3 from Crytek with a new focus on vertical landscapes.
Square EnixSquare Enix has released its game Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy for the PSP. (The game can be downloaded directly to the PSP.) This role-playing game from Square Enix has players participating in the battle between harmony and discord, summoned to a foreign world solely to fight.
Square EnixSquare Enix (together with its developer Crystal Dynamics) has released The Tomb Raider Trilogy for the PlayStation 3. This compilation includes Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld. The first two games have been remastered since their release on the PlayStation 2, while Tomb Raider Underworld is the same version previously released as a download for the PlayStation 3.
Paradox InteractiveParadox Interactive has released Europa Universalis III Chronicles for the PC as a download through major game portals including GamersGate. This compilation includes the original Europa Universalis III as well as the expansions Napoleon's Ambition, In Nomine, Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind. As a group, this package allows players to practice strategy and diplomacy throughout the globe from 1399 to 1820.
Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts' game The Sims: Medieval for the PC and Mac is now available in stores. This is a standalone game in The Sims franchise that allows characters to build a kingdom, develop "Hero Sims" (ranging from knight or wizard to blacksmith or bard) and send those Hero Sims on quests.
NintendoAs is Nintendo's tradition on Mondays, more downloadable games for the Wii and DSi are now available, including a puzzle game involving balance and a classic wrestling game. Read on for more details...
Nickelodeon has officially launched its persistent online game Monkey Quest for the PC. The game has players customizing their own monkey and setting out to discover the secrets of the Monkey King. Of course, while the game is technically free-to-play, there are plenty of ways to spend real money to "enhance" your experience.
This week's downloadable game for the Xbox 360, released through Xbox Live Arcade, is Full House Poker, downloadable for 800 points ($10). Developed and published by Microsoft, this game has players competing at Texas Hold 'Em.
UbisoftUbisoft's game Dance on Broadway is now available for the PlayStation 3. The game shipped last year for the Wii and has players dancing along to 20 Broadway-style numbers.

UbisoftUbisoft's game Fit in Six is now available for the PlayStation 3 and Wii. This software's title comes from the fact that it combines six different fitness elements to help console owners get in shape.
Jikandia: The Timeless Land from Aksys games is now available in stores in North America. This PSP game has players restoring time to Jikandia through a series of dungeon crawls and can also be downloaded directly from the PlayStation Store.
Sony has released even more downloadable games for the PlayStation 3 and PSP through the PlayStation store, including a baseball game and a mash-up of brawlers and puzzle games.
Sega SammySega, part of Sega Sammy, has released its game Total War: Shogun 2 for the PC to stores and to download portals. This latest Total War game once again visits Medieval Japan where players lead one of several warring feudal Japanese provinces.
Sega SammySega's game Yakuza 4 for the PlayStation 3 is now available in stores in North America. This third-person action game offers an extensive single-player adventure through the Japanese underworld, taking players on a journey through the potential dissolution of the Tojo Clan.
D3PublisherD3Publisher's game God Eater Burst for the PSP is available in stores. The game has players on a quest to destroy the Aragami gods by devouring them and seizing their power.
CapcomCapcom's game MotoGP 10/11 for the PlayStation 3 is now available in stores in North America. This latest version of Capcom's motorcycle racing game, developed by Monumental Games, features assists that can be turned on for more forgiving play, or turned off for a more accurate simulation experience.
Activision BlizzardActivision Publishing, part of Activision Blizzard, has placed its game Top Shot Arcade for the Wii in stores. This compilation of light-gun-style shooting games has 75 shooting galleries and 15 bonus games Wii owners can play.

Take-Two Interactive2K Sports (the sports label of Take-Two Interactive) has released its game Top Spin 4 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. This latest iteration of 2K Sports' premier tennis franchise was developed by 2K Czech and features a larger roster of professional players, even more detailed animations and a new online mode that has players competing for a real trip to the 2011 US Open.

CapcomCapcom's game Okamiden for the DS has shipped to stores in North America. The game has players controlling a celestial brush (controlled by the DS stylus) that can paint on the game screen, changing the world to help players complete an adventure featuring a young sun god incarnated as a wolf named Chibiterasu.
MajescoMajesco's game Monster Tale for the DS is now available in stores in North America. Developed by DreamRift, the game features a girl and her pet monster as they set out to rescue enslaved creatures from the Kid Kings.
ZeniMax MediaZeniMax Online Studios, part of ZeniMax Media (parent of Bethesda Softworks) plans to open a customer support center in Galway, Ireland. The center will be led by Rich Barham, formerly of Blizzard Entertainment and now Director of Customer Support. Presumably, the center is being opened in Ireland thanks to investment by IDA Ireland (an Irish Government investment agency).

Homefront Reaches Stores

THQTHQ's game (developed by Kaos Studios), Homefront for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC is now available in stores worldwide. The game is set in 2027 when the United States is attempting to resist an occupation by the Greater Korean Republic. Players join the resistance and battle against the occupation using guerrilla tactics.
NintendoThis week's downloadable games for the Wii and DSi include the ever-popular Plants vs. Zombies and a mahjong game, among others. Read on for more details...
Konami and Saber Interactive have released Battle: Los Angeles (based on the film of the same name) through Xbox Live Arcade. Downloadable for 800 points ($10), the game has players fighting alongside characters from the film against an alien invasion.
Paradox InteractiveParadox Interactive announced that it has launched Dreamlords: Resurrection on the PC, its free-to-play massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game set in a fantasy universe. The game, developed by Lockpick Entertainment, has players taking on the role of a Dreamlord, raising armies to conquer land and defend the populace from Nightmares that stalk the realm.
This week's downloadable game for the Xbox 360, released through Xbox Live Arcade, is Torchlight. Downloadable for 1,200 points ($15), the game is an action-oriented role-playing game (in the style of the Diablo games) developed by Runic Games. Players choose one of three character classes and dungeon crawl using the town of Torchlight as a base.
UbisoftUbisoft's game Petz Bunnyz Bunch for the DS is now available in stores. This latest Petz game has players taking care of a family of bunnies from eight different breeds with different personalities.
Yoostar 2: In the Movies for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is available in stores. The game has players using a camera attached to the console (the Kinect sensor or PlayStation Eye) to insert console owners into scenes from films such as The Hangover or 300.
AtariAtari's Greatest Hits Volume 2 for the DS is now available in stores. This compilation includes a collection of 50 games both released as coin-operated consoles and for the Atari 2600, including Warlords, Space War and Canyon Bomber.

Sony has released MLB 11: The Show for the PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2. This latest iteration of Sony's baseball franchise adds stereoscopic 3D functionality, PlayStation Move support and new analog controls for hitting, pitching and throwing. So, unless you have a fancy, 3D TV or a PlayStation Move controller, they've tweaked the controls a bit.
Take-Two Interactive2K Sports, the sports label of Take-Two Interactive, has released its game Major League Baseball 2K11 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, DS, PSP and PlayStation 2. This latest version of Take-Two Interactive's baseball franchise features tweaked pitching and fielding controls.
UbisoftUbisoft's game The $1,000,000 Pyramid is available for the Wii, allowing Wii owners to participate in their own version of the game show that originally debuted in 1973.
Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts, together with its BioWare unit, has released its game Dragon Age II to stores in North America (the game should reach stores in Europe this Friday). The game is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac. Building on the world introduced in Dragon Age: Origins, this game follows a refugee who rises following the destruction of his homeland to become the Champion of Kirkwall.

NintendoNintendo has released the Black and White versions of its latest Pokemon game to stores in North America. This newest iteration of the Pokemon role-playing game series has players collecting and battling Pokemon in the Unova region with even more Pokemon to train.
Portal gPotato is officially launching its persistent online game Allods Online, meaning that the game is getting a functional cash shop. The game fuses science-fiction and fantasy elements as rival factions battle for control over "allods," islands floating in the Astral plane. Developed by Astrum Nival, the game has players piloting Astral ships and battling massive demons.
Winter Wolves has released its roleplaying game Planet Stronghold for the PC as a download. The game has players assigned to the eponymous galactic outpost, "Planet Stronghold," dealing with the many dangers that post holds.
Slitherine, together with Matrix Games, has launched Field of Glory: Legions Triumphant as a download for the PC and Mac. This is an expansion for the strategy game Field of Glory that requires the original game and adds the armies of the Roman Empire from 25BC to 493 AD.
UTV True Games has officially launched its massively multiplayer online game Mytheon for the PC. As is always the case with free-to-play games, "official launch" means that the game now has a cash shop allowing players to purchase virtual goods for real money. Mytheon is a fantasy-themed MMOG that has players taking on the role of "Stonecasters," mastering the use of magical stones to summon mythological creatures.
UbisoftDid you miss out on Ubisoft's platformer Beyond Good & Evil when it was released almost a decade ago? A remastered version of this platformer is now available as a download through Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360, complete with the song "Propaganda." Decidedly entertaining, although odd and with a strong political message, the game has players taking on the role of Jade, a young reporter and her loyal pig pal as they investigate a government conspiracy. That's how old this game is – when it came out, we had reporters.
Battlefront.com has released yet another Strategic Command game. This one covers the First World War, and is called (unsurprisingly) Strategic Command WWI 1914-1918: The Great War. This is a detailed simulation of World War I that can be purchased as a download or by mail from Battlefront.com.

UFO Interactive's game Chuck E. Cheese's Sports Games for the Wii is available in stores. This casual party game features a variety of sports-themed mini-games designed for young players.
Magicka: VietnamParadox Interactive and Arrowhead Studios announced they have chosen the expansion for their recently released fantasy-themed game Magicka. We'll let the poster to the right and Paradox Interactive's words speak for themselves. Paradox asks, "Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents? Wait, you haven't ever wondered that? Ever?"
THQTHQ's game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution for the PC is now available in stores. The game allows players to chose from six races, and experience a unique, single-player campaign for that race, while still being able to enjoy multiplayer battles in this real-time strategy game with all six factions.
Trion Worlds has launched its massively multiplayer online game Rift for the PC. The game is available both as a download and in retail stores, and should reach Australia and European Nations at different times throughout the rest of the week. Rift has players battling across the world of Telaria as an Ascended hero back from the dead to fight invaders from other planes and save all of existence. Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts' game Fight Night Champion is now available in North America, and should reach stores worldwide by Friday. Released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game adds "cinematic storytelling" (according to EA) to the game released as Fight Night Round 4 along with several play improvements.
Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts, together with Paramount Digital Entertainment, has released Rango: The Videogame to stores in North America, a few days in advance of the Rango film reaching theaters. Available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS, the game has players exploring the environments and events of the film (even defending Dirt from hostile zombie rodents).
