Killzone was hardly the whole story behind the Helghast invasion. In the events described by Killzone, Captain Jan Templar and his comrades in the Special Forces defended Vekta City from an assault by militant and revolutionary Helghast, eager to gain a foothold on a world less hostile and unpleasant than their own. Two months later, now that the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance is prepared to defend its colony, Templar has been pressed into duty freeing southern Vekta from Helghast control. To that end, Templar and the ISA Special Forces will face legions of Helghast soldiers under the command of General Metrac and his fierce lieutenant Cobar, known as the "White Death" by his own troops.

Ten years ago, the cloned Furon warrior Cryptosporidium harvested sufficient Furon DNA from innocent human brains to restore the Furon race to health. He also leveled buildings everywhere from small American towns to monuments in Washington, D.C. His task complete, Crypto disguised himself as the United States president, leading the country for nearly a decade as Crypto's ally, Orthopox, sifted through the DNA on the orbiting Furon mothership.

Now that the swingin' sixties are in full bloom, the Soviet Union has somehow detected the mothership, and annihilated it with nuclear missiles. At the same time, the Cold War is heating up, as KGB agents actively infiltrate western nations. Could there be an even more sinister alien threat behind the Soviet scare? One that Crypto and his Furon friends aren't behind?

No one knows why He disappeared, but it is certain that the people of the worlds are once again left without direction, without guiding principle, without order. Now is the time for the beings of great power and ambition to try their strength. The throne of the heavens stands empty, and only the strongest can rise to supremacy over all. In the mid-1930s, reports of biological experiments began to emerge from Russia. Reports were increasingly terrible, with tales leaking from the near-silent country of horrific biological experiments involving a dreadful virus and entire villages being wiped out. In 1949, the truth burst forth on the world. The inhabitants of Russia were quickly transformed into monstrosities we call the "Chimera."

When the Chimera exploded into Europe, it only took a matter of weeks before they had subjugated the continent, harvesting humanity and transforming it, with the help of the Chimera virus, into horrific organisms that continued their genetic blitzkrieg across Europe. In October of 1950, the Chimera burrowed under the English Channel, conquering Britain over a span of three months.

Throughout, the United States remained silent and isolated. Only in July of 1951 did the Americans get involved, invading York to support the British and trade for a truly horrific secret. Sergeant Nathan Hale was among the American soldiers who landed at York, and single-handedly turned out to be the key to slowing the Chimera. But what can one man do against a horrible genetic onslaught, supported by unthinkably advanced technology?
