Namco Bandai GamesNamco Bandai announced its financial results for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2012. For the year, Dark Souls was the company's best-selling game, with networked content helping to drive the improved results. Read on for more details...
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, Namco Bandai reported net income of ¥19.303 billion (around $242 million), compared to net income of ¥1.848 billion in the previous fiscal year.

The "Content" business segment (that includes video game operations) reported operating income of ¥17.003 billion, compared to ¥3.092 billion in the previous year. While most of Namco Bandai's segments improved modestly, the content segment was the only one that showed remarkable improvement, and appears to have driven the rise in profitability. That said, console games remained relatively constant, with the big improvements coming from "Network Content" and the "Other" category.

The company's biggest selling game for the year was Dark Souls, selling 1.190 million copies. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon sold 1.070 million copies, with (Japan-only) One Piece "Kaizoku Musou" coming in third at 940 million copies.
