Konami Reports Increased Six-Month Profits

KonamiKonami reported its financial results for the six-month period ended September 30, 2011. The company reported higher six-month profits and strong results from social games, but experienced decreased console game sales. Read on for more details...
For the six-month period ended September 30, 2011, Konami reported net income of ¥11.462 billion, compared to net income of ¥4.192 billion for the same period the previous year. Konami emphasized that it is still suffering the negative impact of the enormous Japanese Earthquake and the unfavorable exchange rates resulting from a strong yen.

Konami's Digital Entertainment segment (that includes video games and social games) reported net revenues of ¥58.1 billion, compared to ¥53.1 billion in the same period the previous year. This resulted in operating income for the segment of ¥15.1 billion, compared to operating income of ¥4.6 billion in the same period the prior year. Konami noted that revenues from social games are improving dramatically, while consumer games sales dropped.
