For the fiscal third quarter ended September 30, 2011, Activision Blizzard reported net income of $148 million compared to net income of $51 million in the same quarter the previous year. While the company's results were decent, Activision Blizzard understandably wanted to focus on the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 since all indications are that this release will lead to record-breaking results in the next quarter.

"Online subscriptions" (including all World of Warcraft products) produced $336 million, compared to $289 million in the previous year. Mostly, Activision Blizzard wanted to focus on the increase in revenues from "digital channels," including downloadable content and mobile revenues. Apparently, World of Warcraft subscribers have dropped to 10.3 million (with most of the losses coming from Asia) from a high of around 12 million.
