PlayStation Store Gets a Big Update

SonyThis is a particularly big week for the PlayStation Store, with many games for the PlayStation 3 and PSP added to the assortment of downloadable titles, including the anticipated Payday: The Heist as well as games involving dungeons, chickens, cloud-whales and even a rabbity-thing. Beat Hazard Ultra can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $10, letting players explore a twin-stick-style shooter that takes its cue from music.


Dead Space, released in 2008, can now be downloaded directly to the PlayStation 3 for $20, allowing players to experience this shooter that has players facing off against a mysterious alien threat that reanimates the dead.

Dungeon Defenders can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $15. This game has players facing off against waves of enemies as one of four classes of hero to protect the Eternia Crystal.

Okabu can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $15. The game has players guiding a pair of brothers (who just happen to be cloud-whales) through a series of adventures and puzzles.

Payday: The Heist is a (sort-of) cooperative first-person shooter that can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $20. Players load themselves up with a variety of equipment and weapons and then try to accomplish a big robbery and escape alive.

Real Steel, released last week for the Xbox 360, can now be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $10. Based on the film of the same name, this is a robot boxing game in which players own and control a fighting robot that faces a variety of rival robots across several fighting tiers.

Ridge Racer 7 is now available in a 3D version that allows players to experience this racing game in full 3D for $20.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken from Ratloop Asia can now be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $12. This platformer has players taking on the role of Hardboiled Chicken, facing off against evil penguins with a variety of massively destructive weapons.

Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space, the second season of Telltale's episodic Sam & Max adventures, can now be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $20. In this season, players help the Freelance Police investigate everything from the North Pole to Hell to mysterious Mariachis.

Street Fighter Alpha 3, released for the original PlayStation, can now be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 or PSP for $6. This classic fighting game allows players to choose from around 30 different characters to do battle.

Also available this week are the PSP minis 1000 Tiny Claws ($3.50), Speedball 2: Evolution ($7), Street Smart ($3) and The Treasures of Montezuma ($4).
