SonyToday marks the release through the PlayStation Store of another slate of downloadable games for the PlayStation 3 and PSP, including a classic coin-operated action game, the best part of the Burnout series and several previously released retail games. On the PlayStation 3, there's also a new (version 3.72) firmware update. Sony won't say what it does (other than improving "system stability" and "network services"), but it will delay you if you want to purchase any of the games below. Read on for the full list and more details...
Altered Beast, based on a port of the classic coin-operated arcade game, can now be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $5. This side-scrolling action game allows players to transform into were-forms with powerful special attacks.

Bolt, previously released to physical stores, can now be downloaded directly to the PlayStation 3 for $20. Based on the film of the same name, players take on the roles of Bolt and Penny from the television series within the film.

Burnout: Crash! from Criterion Games can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $10. Based on the Burnout series of racing games, this title gives gamers the best part of the series – the crash mode in which players work to cause the most expensive accident imaginable. We suppose that means it's not an accident.

Cubixx can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $10. This puzzle game allows players to pursue massive combos or solve specific challenges.

Resident Evil 4, in FI's opinion the strongest entry in the Resident Evil series, can now be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $20. PlayStation 3 owners can now download this game directly to their consoles and help Leon Kennedy protect the president's daughter from a village of infected cultists in this survival/horror game.

Saint's Row 2 can now be downloaded directly to the PlayStation 3 for $20. Released in 2008, this open-world game of crime and over-the-top violence is being offered as a reminder that THQ plans to release Saint's Row 3 shortly.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 - Innocent Sin, also released to stores today, can be downloaded directly to the PSP for $40. This is the more-than-a-decade-old Persona game that never previously saw a North American release, now with improved visuals and a remixed soundtrack.

Also available today is the PSP mini Edge, downloadable to the PSP for $5.
