Namco Bandai GamesNamco Bandai Holdings reported its financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended June 30, 2011. The company reported slightly lower game sales despite increased company profitability, probably because of the company's reliance on 3DS titles. Read on for more details...
For the fiscal first quarter ended June 30, 2011, Namco Bandai Games reported net income of ¥3.248 billion (around $42 million) compared to a net loss in the same quarter the previous year of ¥1.644 billion.

Namco Bandai has quite a few business segments, including arcades and toys, but the company's video games are part of its "Content" segment that includes arcade game machines and game software. Game Software resulted in ¥10.4 billion of sales (compared to ¥12.9 billion of sales for arcade machines and ¥11.5 billion of game software sales in the same quarter the previous year). The company's three best performing games in the quarter were all 3DS titles (possibly explaining why the company's game sales are down): One Piece Unlimited Cruse (170,00 copies sold), Tales of the Abyss (150,00 copies sold) and Ridge Racer 3DS (90,00 copies sold).
