Sony Launches PlayStation 3 v3.61 Update and Restores Some Service

| | Comments (0)
PlayStation 3The PlayStation Network outage may finally be wrapping up. Astoundingly, the service has been down since April 20, but today the first signs appear that things may return to normal shortly. Sony is now allowing PlayStation 3 users to download the v3.61 update. The first thing the update will require is that PlayStation 3 users update their password on a verified machine upon logging into the PlayStation Network. Portions of the PlayStation Network are also now (reportedly) live in certain regions. While, after downloading the update, many network services are supposed to be available, the PlayStation Store is still under repair.

FI was able to download the v3.61 update, but has not yet been able to log into the PlayStation Network, so the rollout is not remotely complete in North America.

Sony Online Entertainment is also beginning the restoration of its game servers today, so if you can't already log in to SOE games, you should be able to do so soon.
