Konami Reports Strong Year, Offset by Earthquake Damages

KonamiKonami announced selected financial results for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2011. Essentially, Konami reported a strong year, where improvements over the previous year were largely cancelled out by damages from the recent Japanese earthquake. Read on for more details...
For its fiscal year ended March 31, 2011, Konami reported net income of ¥12.934 billion (around $159 million), compared to net income of ¥13.314 billion in the previous year.

Konami reported that "...results for the fiscal year have roughly met their earnings forecast, with the exception of Health & Fitness business where unexpected repair costs of facilities were incurred caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake." The "Gaming & Systems" business reported record revenues thanks to slot machine sales, and social games generated solid sales.
