Electronic Arts Reports $276 Million Annual Loss

Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts reported its preliminary financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended March 31, 2011. Read on for more details...
For the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011, EA reported net income of $151 million (compared to net income of $30 million in the same quarter the previous year). For the year, EA reported a net loss of $276 million, compared to a net loss of $677 million in the prior year.

So, while EA's fourth quarter results were strong, EA's overall results for the year were poor – just not as bad as last year. Strong results for the company's fourth quarter were driven by sales of games such as Crysis 2, Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age 2, but that wasn't nearly enough to push the company to profitability.
