EA Plans Battlefield Play4Free For Next Year

| | Comments (0)
Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts is planning to launch a new Battlefield multiplayer first-person shooter in 2011. Rather than the full-price-game model in which players purchase the software and battle online for free (save premium downloadable content such as maps and weapons), this game will follow the pattern of Battlefield Heroes and be free to play, but will offer premium weapons and equipment (in a less cartoonish and more realistic environment). Called Battlefield Play4Free, EA promises popular maps from Battlefield 2 with "the familiar classes and powerful weapons of Battlefield: Bad Company 2..." The game should launch in the first half of 2011, and if you choose to play, you can bet EA will find plenty of ways to part you from your cash to be competitive in the online Battlefield.
