EA Announces Preliminary Second Quarter Net Loss

Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts reported "preliminary" financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2010. EA also entered into a five year exclusive currency agreement with Facebook. Read on for more details...
For EA's second fiscal quarter, EA reported a net loss of $201 million, compared to a net loss in the same quarter the previous year of $391 million.


EA announced that it plans to restructure several of its "key licensing and developer agreements to improve the long-term profitability of its packaged goods portfolio." To this end, EA expects restructuring charges of as much as $180 million in the second half of the financial year.

EA also announced that it has entered into a five-year agreement with Facebook to use Facebook Credits as "the exclusive payment method in EA games on Facebook."
