Atari Reports Smaller First-Half Loss

| | Comments (0)
AtariAtari announced selected financial results for the first half of its fiscal year, a six-month period ended September 30, 2010:
For the six-month period ended September 30, 2010, Atari reported a net loss of €9.2 million (around $13 million) compared to a net loss of €27.0 million in the first half of the prior fiscal year.

Despite experiencing a smaller net loss, Atari's revenues were substantially down, something Atari blamed on not releasing another Ghostbusters: The Video Game this year. Atari also credits its "strategic shift towards online/casual/social gaming, a market segment where Atari intends to benefit from new growth drivers."

Of Atari's revenues, 43.6% came from "Online Revenue" (including subscription and digital distribution revenue), for which Star Trek Online and Champions Online were significant contributors.
