Sega Sammy Holdings Reports Positive Income But Not Positive Attitude

For the six month period ended September 30, 2011, Sega Sammy Holdings reported net income of ¥24.349 billion (around $300 million) compared to a net loss of ¥6.323 billion in the same period the previous year. Sega Sammy expressed disappointment in the weak pachinko, pachislot and arcade businesses in Japan, and disparaged the state of the home video game industry in Europe and the United States.

Net sales for the Consumer Business unit (that includes the company's videogame business) were ¥38.898 billion, resulting in an operating loss of ¥1.306 billion.
