Sony Adds Japanese Classics to the Usual Slate of Downloadable Games

| | Comments (0)
Not only has Sony released new downloadable games for the PSP and PlayStation 3, Sony has started releasing old Japanese games from the original PlayStation era for North American consumption. Add to that the fact that Sony is launching the PlayStation Store update a day early (in anticipation of network outages tomorrow) and it's a wacky day for the PlayStation Store. Read on for more details on the specific games:
101-in-1 Megamix can be downloaded to the PSP for $15, featuring a collection of action and puzzle games for all ages.

Blade Kitten can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $15. The game has cat-girl Kit Ballard and her alien sidekick Skiffy hunting targets for profit on a mysterious planetoid.

Cladun: This Is An RPG! can be downloaded to the PSP for $20. The game has players outfitting parties of adventurers and battling in Arcanus Cella, a place that connects to many worlds.

Cho Aniki, released for the original PlayStation in Japan, can now be downloaded for $6. Keep in mind that this is the Japanese version of the game, so English-speakers beware. This is a shooter involving erotic bodybuilders and spinning corpses.

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $15 and is the second half of the adventure that began in DeathSpank. This action-game sports more adventure-style play than its predecessor and sends DeathSpank on a quest for the remaining outstanding thongs.

Sonic Adventure from Sega can be downloaded to the PlayStation 3 for $10. Released last week on the Xbox 360, this remastered version of the Dreamcast game has Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles and the rest of the gang stopping Dr. Eggman from using the Chaos Emeralds to perpetrate his evil scheme.

Gaia Seed is also a game released for the original PlayStation in Japan, and can also be downloaded for $6. Gaia Seed is in Japanese and is a side-scrolling shooter from the era when lots of parallax scrolling was particularly hip.
