Namco Bandai Reports Smaller Quarterly Net Loss

Namco Bandai GamesNamco Bandai Holdings announced certain financial results for its first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2010:
For the quarter, Namco Bandai reported a net loss of ¥1.644 billion (around $19 million), compared to a net loss of ¥2.846 billion in the same quarter the previous year.

The company's game operations are included in the company's "Content" division (that now includes the division formerly known as "Visual and Music Content"). Content reported an operating loss of ¥619 million compared to an operating loss of ¥4.136 billion in the same quarter the previous year. Unfortunately, Namco Bandai has yet to turn its gaming operations around, but plans on focusing further on social games in Western territories.

The company also announced that Namco Bandai Games America and Namco Networks America will be united under the Namco Bandai Games America label. The integration is planned to help the combined entity improve its presence in the social gaming space.
