Electronic Arts Reports First-Quarter Profit

Electronic ArtsElectronic Arts announced preliminary financial results for its first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2010:
For the quarter, Electronic Arts reported Net Income of $96 million, compared to a net loss of $234 million in the same quarter the previous year.

EA's Chief Executive Officer John Riccitiello credited 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, downloadable content and Scrabble on the iPad as driving the quarter's success.

For the quarter, 49% of GAAP revenues came from North American sales. By platform, 26% of GAAP revenues came from Xbox 360 games, 25% from PC games and 22% from PlayStation 3 games, with other platforms making up the remainder.
