Activision Blizzard Posts Another Strong Quarter, Once Again Thanks to World of Warcraft

Activision BlizzardActivision Blizzard announced its financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2010:
For the quarter, the company reported net income of $219 million, compared to net income in the same quarter the previous year of $195 million. The company credited continuing sales of Call of Duty games and the massive cashflow provided by World of Warcraft. The company is also expecting strong ongoing income thanks to the recent launch of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.


Emphasizing the importance of World of Warcraft to the company, Activision Blizzard reported that MMORPGs constituted 30% of net revenues for the quarter ($289 million). By contrast, all Xbox 360 titles together provided 24% of net revenues.
