Disney's Game Business Improves Slightly For Disney's Second Quarter

The Walt Disney Company reported its financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended April 3, 2010, including information on the performance of the company's game operations:
For the quarter, Disney reported net income of $998 million compared to net income of $653 million in the same quarter the previous year. More importantly to folks interested in games and the business of games, Disney's Interactive Media segment (that includes games) lost less money this year.


The Interactive Media segment reported revenues for the quarter of $155 million (compared to revenues of $129 million in the same quarter the prior year). The segment reported an operating loss of $55 million, slightly lower than the operating loss of $61 million in the same quarter the previous year. Disney credited higher Club Penguin subscription numbers with the slightly better results.
