Ubisoft Reports Lower Sales and Refocuses on Established Franchises

UbisoftUbisoft reported selected financial information for its fiscal third quarter ended December 31, 2009:
Ubisoft reported third quarter sales of €495 million (around $680 million) compared to sales of €508 million in the same quarter the previous year.


Ubisoft also emphasized that it will reduce its investment in new game franchises and will focus on "more regular releases for its major franchises." Ubisoft also plants to continue "its initiatives in the growth segments of the casual market..."

By region, 49% of the company's sales came from Europe, with North America providing 45% of sales and the rest of the world making up the difference. By platform, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 each provided 30% of sales, with Wii games providing 21% of sales and other platforms making up the balance.
