Nintendo Reports Lower Third Quarter Operating Profit

Nintendo briefly reported certain financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended December 31, 2009. The company saw its operating profit during the quarter fall 23% from the comparable quarter the previous year to ¥192.3 billion (around $2.1 billion). While lower than last year's results, Nintendo beat investor's expectations, which were tempered by lower margins on the Wii console and lower sales of Wii consoles.
