Canada Increases Video Game Employees
Game Developer Research, part of the Think Services Game Group that puts on the Game Developers Conferences, released some of the results of its third Game Developer Census today:
According to the census, there are 44,806 video game industry employees in the United States, compared to 44,400 last year. Canada now has 12,480 employees, compared to 9,500, representing substantial growth compared to the stagnant U.S. numbers.
In the U.S., nearly half of videogame employees are in California, with the bulk of the remainder in the states of Washington, Texas, New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, Florida and Maryland. The above numbers don't include third-party contractors or middleware companies.
