THQ Reorganizes Business Units and Management

| | Comments (0)
THQTHQ has reorganized its business units and management to reorient its business, forming three business units that will each report to President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Farrell: "Core Games, "Kids, Family and Casual Games" and "Online."
Danny Bilson has been promoted to Executive Vice President to lead the Core Games unit. This unit will publish games in the "action, shooter, strategy, racing and fighting" genres and will cover THQ's titles such as Darksiders, Warhammer 40,000 and MX vs. ATV.

The Kids, Family and Casual Games unit will be led by Doug Clemmer, who has also been promoted to Executive Vice President. This unit will include THQ's casual games, particularly licensed games and those developed for more casual platforms such as the Wii.

THQ's Online division will be led by Steve Dauterman, who has been promoted to Senior Vice President of the company. Dauterman has been working on product development for THQ in Asia, and will continue to work from THQ's Asia Pacific Headquarters. The Online division will focus on creating online properties based on THQ's brands "such as Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40,000 and WWE."

THQ has also promoted Ian Curran to Executive Vice President of Global Publishing from his previous post as Executive Vice President of International Publishing.

According to Farrell, "The new structure specifically aligns our primary business units with our product strategy, enabling each team to focus on planning and execution in highly defined product areas with full profit and loss responsibility." That statement makes it sound as if THQ is looking for its individual executives to be more accountable for the performance of their products. This is hardly surprising given THQ's recent huge losses and the resignation in May of the company's Executive Vice President of Publishing, Scott Guthrie.
