Mythic and BioWare Units at EA Combined, Jacobs Departs
Electronic Arts has decided to restructure its role-playing and massively multiplayer online game studios. As a result, EA is creating a new group that will include both BioWare and Mythic Entertainment.
The newly combined unit will be led by Ray Muzyka, co-founder and General Manager of BioWare. Greg Zeschuk (the other co-founder of BioWare) will be the Group Creative Officer. Rob Denton will be promoted to General Manager of Mythic and will report to Muzyka.
Because of the changes, Mark Jacobs, co-founder and current General Manager of Mythic departed the company yesterday. One wonders if Jacobs did something to upset the management of EA, or simply didn't want to cede control to Muzyka. Given that Jacobs sold Mythic to EA, it seems unlikely that his departure was voluntary.
