If anyone doubted that Bethesda Softworks is one of the big boys in the game publishing industry, those doubts should now be dispelled. ZeniMax Media, the parent of Bethesda Softworks, has purchased iD Software for an undisclosed sum.
John Carmack will continue to lead iD Software's development efforts. As Todd Hollenshead, the Chief Executive Officer of iD, said, "...we will now have financial and business resources to support the future growth of iD Software." Reportedly, all of the top staff at iD have signed long-term contracts and will remain with the company under ZeniMax ownership.
