Game Developer Magazine Releases Average Salary Survey

Game Developer magazine has released the results of its eighth annual salary survey of American game design professionals. The average salary for American game design jobs in 2008 was $79,000, up from $74,000 in 2007. More specific findings for 2008 salaries are as follows:
  • Programmers averaged $85,024


  • Art and animation professionals averaged $69,532

  • Game designers averaged $67,379

  • Producers averaged $82,905 with more women on average than other jobs

  • Quality assurance testers averaged $39,571

  • Audio professionals averaged $78,167

  • Business and marketing professionals averaged $102,143
