Sony Reorganizes Company and Shuffles Executives

| | Comments (0)
Sony announced a major reorganization that will go into effect on April 1, including immediate changes to its executive staff and a change to the way the company approaches the video game business.
Mr. Stringer will become the President of Sony Corporation, in addition to his current responsibilities as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He will preside over the reorganization of Sony into two divisions.

The reorganization will create two new groups, the New Consumer Products Group (that will include the company's television, digital imaging, home audio and home video businesses) and the Networked Products & Services Group (that will include Sony Computer Entertainment's game business as well as personal computers, mobile products and Sony Media Software and Services).

Kazuo Hirai will become Executive Vice President of Sony Corporation and President of the Networked Products & Services Group, continuing in his role as President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. A variety of other executives have been shuffled around, but are of less interest to the gaming community than the additional responsibilities assumed by Kazuo Hirai.
