| | Comments (0)
MicrosoftMicrosoft plans to open its own set of retail stores. To pursue this strategy, Microsoft has hired David Porter, a long time Wal-Mart Veteran who recently served a brief stint as the head of worldwide product distribution for DreamWorks Animation SKG. While a timeframe for Microsoft's stores wasn't confirmed, part of Porter's job will be to define "...the time frame, locations and specifics for planned Microsoft-branded retail stores..."
To explain Microsoft's strategy, Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner stated, "We're... working hard to transform the PC and Microsoft buying experience at retail by improving the articulation and demonstration of the Microsoft innovation and value proposition so that it's clear, simple and straightforward for consumers everywhere."
