Infogrames and Namco Bandai Games Create New Distribution Business Based on Infogrames' Infrastructure

| | Comments (0)
Infogrames (parent of Atari) has entered into a strategic partnership with Namco Bandai Games that will see Namco Bandai Games acquire a 34% stake in Infogrames European and Asian distribution businesses.
This arrangement will involve spinning off the distribution business as a new entity (of which Infogrames will retain 66% ownership). This entity will then take care of distribution for both Namco Bandai Games and Infogrames titles in those regions. Until June 30, 2012, Infogrames will retain the option to force the sale its stake to Namco Bandai, and for another year beyond that, Namco Bandai can still choose to purchase Infogrames' share of the business.

Essentially, this deal should help Infogrames in the short term (with increased distribution revenues) and will, if successful, belong to Namco Bandai by 2013.
