Lots of Ads Coming to Guitar Hero: World Tour

Activision BlizzardActivision Publishing plans to crank up the product placement and in-game advertising in its upcoming game Guitar Hero: World Tour.
The company was pleased to announced that the game will feature "several of the most influential instrument and equipment brands in the music industry." and that "gamers can score in-game sponsorships..."

As with all in-game advertising deals, Activision is touting the realism that this will bring to the game. Really it just means that gamers will see ads from AMPEG, Audio-Technica, EMG Pickups, Ernie Ball, Evans Drumheads, Guitar Center, Krank Amplification, Mackie, Marshall, Orange County Drum & Percussion, Pork Pie Percussion, Regal Tip, Sabian cymbals, Vox, Zildjian, Amoeba Music and the House of Blues Sunset Strip.

Oddly enough, many gamers really do get excited about this sort of thing, in a way they would not if they learned Call of Duty's soldiers were being sponsored by gun manufacturers.
