Virginia Pastor Threatens to Burn Games and Music

| | Comments (0)
It's always been a bad sign for entertainment and education alike when extreme conservatives have suggested book burnings. In a recent interview, a Virginia pastor has suggested that he is planning a similar burning for games and music to diminish their impact on youth.
Richard Patrick, the Pastor of the Abyssinia Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia, was quoted as saying, "We are considering having something similar to a rally where parents and children can bring CDs and video games that they consider are destructive to the mind set of our youth and have a burning..."

Burning games and music, both expressive media, is a frightening thought, and the interview is all the more disturbing because it seems earnest, rather than a publicity stunt.
