Activision Reports Astounding Holiday Income
Activision announced its financial results for its fiscal third quarter ended December 31, 2007.
During the quarter, Activision reported net income of $272.196 million, compared to $142.820 million in the same quarter the previous year. Activision's Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kotick, took the opportunity to gloat that Activision was the top game publisher by sales and that the company exceeded its financial goals for the quarter. Activision was particularly pleased with the sales of its game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
62% of Activision's revenue came from North America. By platform, 33% of revenues came from the sale of Xbox 360 games, 26% from PlayStation 2 games and 14% from PlayStation 3 games (with other platforms making up the remainder). The company also reported that things are on track (but not complete) for the merger with Vivendi's games business that will create Activision Blizzard.
