GameStop Holiday Sales Increase by 35%
Retailer GameStop is excited to declare that its holiday sales (over the nine week period ended January 5,2008) came out to $2.334 billion, compared to $1.732 billion in the same period last year.
GameStop partially attributes the jump to the much greater installed base for the latest generation of consoles. The performance was so strong that GameStop has increased its fourth quarter financial guidance. GameStop noted that the five top-selling games over the holidays were Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed, Rock Band and Super Mario Galaxy.
