Midway Expects Lower Revenues as Games Move into 2008

| | Comments (0)
Midway updated the financial community on its fiscal third quarter ended September 30 and its fiscal year ending December 31.
Formal results for the third quarter aren't out, but Midway is warning that third quarter revenues should be around 25% lower than previously predicted because of the company's decision to delay the PlayStation 3 version of Stranglehold to October.

Midway also expects that revenues for the full fiscal year will be around 25% lower because it has delayed the release of the PlayStation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 (and the European PlayStation 3 version of BlackSite: Area 51) to 2008.

Midway's President and Chief Executive Officer David Zucker was clearly disappointed that the company will miss out on the revenues that would come from releasing those games during the holiday season. He did, however, point out that Midway will also launch new Blitz and Mortal Kombat games for the latest generation of consoles in 2008.
