The Casual Games Association has compiled a report on the casual games industry, providing some concrete data on casual games.
While the CGA is eager to have you pay as much as $1500 for the report, the CGA did offer some of the report's high-level results. Overall, the CGA argues that the casual game industry has revenues of $2.25 billion per year and is growing by 20% annually.

The CGA found that 200 million people play casual games, and that while women are 51.7% of casual gamers, women account for 74% of those who pay for casual games. Casual gamers who pay for subscriptions, typically play 7-15 hours per week, and the heaviest play times are during lunch and after dinner.

The CGA found that the most popular casual games are Solitaire, Tetris, Bejeweled, QQ Games Collection, Diner Dash and Mystery Case Files.
