Philips Launching Computer for Board Gaming

| | Comments (0)
Philips Electronics revealed that it is developing the Entertaible, and intends to begin limited public testing of the device later this year. Unlike so many of the non-console gaming devices being introduced that are simply tiny devices to run early coin-op games, the Entertaible is designed to bridge the gap between hobby and electronic gamers.
A prototype was built in January, and now it will be tested in certain bars, restaurants, pubs and other social locations. The device positions a 32-inch display as a board on the table that is capable of interacting with playing pieces and dice. But because the board is an LCD screen, it can respond dynamically to players actions.
