Parks Associates Subdivides Gamers
Parks Associates has released certain details concerning research in an effort to entice companies into purchasing their work. First, Parks divides gamers into four segments: power gamers; social gamers who game to interact with friends; leisure gamers; dormant gamers love to game but don't allocate time to do so; incidental gamers play out of boredom or a lack of other activities; and occasional gamers.
According to Parks Associates, Leisure gamers spend 58 hours per month gaming, largely with casual games. Power gamers are only 11% of all gamers, but account for 30% of game purchases. Incidental gamers, despite a lack of interest, spend more than 20 hours per month playing.
